What is the Reassurance Program?

Safety concerns and social isolation can threaten the ability for seniors to safely live independently. The Reassurance Program by CONTACT Care Line offers regular, personalized phone calls to individuals who may be isolated, vulnerable, or in need of daily or weekly connection at no cost to the individual. Designed to foster emotional well-being and safety, our program serves as a lifeline for individuals seeking companionship, safety checks, or encouragement.


Whether it’s a friendly chat, a reminder to take medication, or simply knowing someone is there, our dedicated team is here to brighten someone’s day, every day.

Around 9 every evening, the telephone rings and Frank smiles. At 97, he still lives independently, his scientist’s mind sharp, even if his body has slowed. Initially, the idea of getting a “safety call” didn’t appeal to him, but a “social call” felt just right. Now, Reassurance Counselors check in to chat about the weather, the University of Tennessee Volunteers, and the latest news.  On the lonelier days, they offer a comforting voice and a much-needed human connection, helping keep life moving forward, even when things have slowed down.
One morning, Lucy slipped and found herself trapped behind her couch. For nine hours, she hoped for someone to hear her cries for help. Fortunately, CONTACT’s daily Reassurance Calls to Lucy meant someone would check in. When she didn’t answer, CONTACT’s safety plan went into action. Emergency services arrived 15 minutes later to help Lucy. Sometimes, Reassurance calls offer a simple daily human touch. That day, CONTACT Reassurance meant lifesaving intervention.
